A Heat Recovery System is the ultimate solution for residential ventilation.
A heat recovery system can be mounted either in a loft space or mounted within a cupboard. The system is designed specifically for an individual dwelling.
The main unit is mounted centrally in the property and is connected to a ducting system. The ducting is then connected to ceiling diffusers (grilles) and these diffusers are placed in the wet rooms and the habitable rooms. The wet rooms such as kitchens, utility rooms, bathrooms and/or WCs are the rooms where moisture and odours are created. The system then extracts the stale moist air from these rooms and exhausts it out into the atmosphere. Prior to the air going out into the atmosphere, it passes over a plastic heat exchanger, which extracts the heat from the air. This heat would otherwise be lost outside. Depending on the system requirements, anything from 70 to 95% of the heat can be retained within the exchanger.
Simultaneously fresh air is brought in from outside via the ducting system and delivered to the habitable rooms, such as the lounge, bedrooms and/or dining rooms. As the incoming air passes over the heat exchanger it picks up the retained heat, thus warming the external air. With the unit running continuously and an air velocity of approximately 0.5 of an air change per hour, every 2 hours the air in the whole dwelling is replaced with fresh, clean, tempered air.
Although running continuously to maintain the improved indoor air quality, heat recovery system can be temporarily boosted to a higher speed during times of cooking and bathing to remove stale moist air more quickly.
Air Minder is available in two unit sizes, 290 or 400 versions. Air Minder can be installed in lofts, either on the rafters or suspended, or in ceiling voids, large cupboards or basements.
